Arif Shahrum - Lead photographer
After returning from a trip to Japan in 2018, I realised how much I had forgotten in just 3 months. My precious memories, how I felt and conversations I had were fading away. I knew I had to do something! I decided to purchase a camera and religiously carried it with me everywhere I went. Being a STEM student at the time, starting photography opened doors that I had never associated my identity with before: creativity and business.
I felt so much meaning photographing couples at the most special times in their lives, which made Melbourne wedding photography my passion. I love getting to know couples and focusing on what is most meaningful to them. I’m easy going and approachable, and not afraid to direct a crowd when it’s needed!

During university, Arif persuaded me to buy a camera. I then found myself walking alongside him on this photography journey. I’ll always remember taking photos of birds using my telephoto lens for the first time, seeing all the little details the naked eye can’t see. It was the feeling of discovering something new.
Since building Two Fates together I’ve felt so excited for the future. I enjoy capturing wedding details, candids, and working behind the scenes.

We are based in Melbourne, Australia but are happy to travel to Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, Gippsland and beyond!
We are not a big studio, which means we are able to give you a personalised experience. We both come from allied health and community service backgrounds, so we value listening to others and understanding the core of what is being sought after. We provide a responsive service so that you can feel at ease.
Our mission is to capture both the epic highs and the quiet in-between moments with a balance of intentionality and authenticity. Do you feel awkward in front of the camera? If you do, don’t worry we feel the exact same! We solve this by providing gentle guidance and prompts so that you can interact with each other in an authentic manner.
